ABSAGE LUCERNE INTERNATIONAL SOLOIST COMPETITION

Aufgrund der ausserordentlichen Lage, welche die Verbreitung des Coronavirus mit sich bringt, sieht sich der Stiftungsrat gezwungen, auf die Durchführung der LUCERNE INTERNATIONAL SOLOIST COMPETITION zu verzichten. Der internationale Solistenwettbewerb für Trompete, welcher vom 21.-25. September 2020 im Rahmen des 22. World Band Festival Luzern hätte stattfinden sollen, wird abgesagt.

Im Sommer 2019 wurde die LUCERNE INTERNATIONAL SOLOIST COMPETITION international ausgeschrieben. Die Herkunft und Zahl der Websitebesucher sowie die Menge der bezogenen Anmeldeunterlagen bestätigen: Das Interesse für ein «Career-kick-off» wie die LUCERNE INTERNATIONAL SOLOIST COMPETITION ist bei aufstrebenden jungen Musikerinnen und Musikern im Fach Trompete weltweit sehr gross. Leider wurden nun aber im Zuge der weltweit herrschenden Corona-Krise eingegangene Anmeldungen aus Asien, Südamerika, den USA sowie Europa grossmehrheitlich zurückgezogen. Wie die potenziellen Wettbewerbsteilnehmer, sieht sich auch der Stiftungsrat mit dem heutigen Kenntnisstand zum Coronavirus leider nicht in der Lage, abschätzen zu können, ob sich die Situation bis zum Ablauf der gesetzten Anmeldefrist (01. Juni 2020) normalisieren wird.

LUCERNE INTERNATIONAL SOLOIST COMPETITION CANCELLED

Due to the extraordinary situation arising from the spread of the coronavirus, there is no other choice for the Board of Trustees than to refrain from carrying out this year’s LUCERNE INTERNATIONAL SOLOIST COMPETITION. The international soloist competition for trumpet, scheduled for 21^st to 25 September 2020 within the scope of the 22^nd Lucerne World Band Festival, is herewith cancelled.

In the summer of 2019, an international call for entries was made for the LUCERNE INTERNATIONAL SOLOIST COMPETITION. The origin and number of visitors to the website, and the volume of entry documents requested, testify to the very high degree of interest prevailing among young, up-and-coming trumpet players around to world in getting their careers kick-started through an event such as the LUCERNE INTERNATIONAL SOLOIST COMPETITION. However, a vast majority of entries from Asia, South America, the U.S. as well as Europe have recently been withdrawn in the wake of the global corona crisis. Based on current knowledge regarding the coronavirus, the Board of Trustees finds itself in the same position as potential competitors, and is unable to assess as to whether the situation is going to return to normal by the end of the registration period (1^st June 2020).
